Soldier deaths and injuries related to Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring
Freedom should remind us, once again, of the evils visited upon those who believe in and
fight for Freedom. Without the sacrifices of these brave men and women and their families,
the freedoms we have won and hold dear, for sure, would disappear.
No long discourse at this time, just a collective prayer for these courageous men and
women. God Bless America and those who fight on Her side in the name of Freedom.

Think About
Taking a few minutes out of our day to discover and
think about the world around us, our place in it, and
how we relate to others can be revealing and enlightening.
The question today is:
Who do you admire, and why? What qualities does he/she have?
Do you have, or can you develop these same qualities?

The Written Word
When was the last time you read good fiction writing? Was it in high school, or college - when it wasn't a
matter of choice, but a matter of pass/fail? Well, if you were lucky enough to have a teacher or professor who enjoyed the books you were made to read, be glad. That person probably instilled in you the joy of reading. Reading good fiction has the power to transport you beyond the day to day routine. It can draw you in to its pages as it jogs your own memory of sights, sounds, and scenes from the past. Reading is a two-way street. The more knowledge you bring to the book, the more rewarding the experience.
So, sit back, relax, and let the world go by, and share with us your favorite fiction writers and books.

Engagement
Participation in life takes many forms. Most of us do the everyday common things that help us survive on a daily basis. Some of us complain, while others face the day with enthusiasm and a positive forward-looking attitude. In either case, we are connected to society. But what happens when the unexpected occurs? The soldier goes off to war and returns with multiple injuries. He/she is cared for by the best doctors, receives intensive therapy, and is sent home. The wounded soldier and his family now have to adapt, both within the family framework and in society at large. Opportunities for personal growth and development, social events, group activities, etc. need to be made available as early and quickly as possible to engage that soldier and help him/her reintegrate into society. What are your thoughts?
